From badge to belly rubs: K-9 Voska retires after years of service

After years of protecting the community alongside her handler, New Braunfels Police K-9 Voska has completed her final shift and is heading into retirement.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — After years of answering the call to protect and serve, K-9 Voska has officially hung up her badge.

The loyal police dog completed her final shift with the New Braunfels Police Department and is now settling into a well-earned retirement, trading long days on duty for quiet mornings and plenty of well-deserved rest.

Voska has been a steadfast partner to officers since 2017, working side by side with her handler, Officer Bobo, and playing a vital role in keeping the community safe. Whether tracking suspects, sniffing out narcotics, or standing ready during tense moments, Voska never hesitated when duty called.

Her resume speaks volumes.

Over the course of her career, Voska was deployed 454 times, conducted 269 narcotics sniffs, and assisted in 61 apprehensions, including several situations where suspects were prevented from escaping. Behind each number is a moment where Voska’s training, instincts, and unwavering focus made a difference.

But those who worked alongside her say her impact goes beyond statistics.

“She was always ready to work,” officers shared, describing a dog who took her job seriously and gave everything she had to protect her team and the people of New Braunfels.

Voska’s days will look a little different now, filled with belly rubs instead of briefings, and naps instead of night shifts. Still, her legacy will remain within the department and the community she served so faithfully.

Congratulations on a job well done, K-9 Voska. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your years of dedication. Enjoy retirement, you’ve earned every moment of it.
