From Kawhi Leonard to Rudy Gobert, Spurs’ Wembanyama has a list of players he wants to dunk on

There are a few players Wemby want to put on a poster.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama has a warning for a few of the league’s top defenders: He would like to put you on a poster.

During a chat with CBS Sports, Wembanyama was asked if he has a list of players he’d like to dunk on. Immediately, he listed some of the top defenders on his dunk wishlist: Rudy Gobert, Jonathan Issac, and former Spur Kawhi Leonard.

“I would say the best defenders would be the biggest challenges, so of course Rudy, my guy Rudy Gobert,” Wembanyama said. “I think Kawhi [Leonard] would be because all these guys, I just respect them so much in the defensive end that it would be incredible to dunk on them.”

“I would say the third one would be Jonathan Isaac. He’s, I think, a really, really underrated defender.”

Wemby targeting Gobert is a no-brainer. Many felt he was the 2023-24 Defensive Player of the Year, not his fellow French countryman.

A dunk on Gobert would be a forceful message to the reigning NBA DOPY as well as to the 6-11 Issac, who’ll be back on the court for the Magic

As for Leonard, a dunk on him might vault Wemby into Spurs fandom’s stratosphere, considering many still harbor resentment over how the former San Antonio forward exited. Also, the Clippers forward is a lockdown defender and a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year winner.

Wemby will get his chance at all three of them this upcoming season, and it is shaping to be another incredible season for the sophomore center.
