SAN ANTONIO — Authorities said a woman who was forcibly taken from a downtown location early Wednesday morning was found and the CLEAR Alert discontinued a day later.
The woman, 27-year-old Destiny Ferdin, was found after a SWAT raid at a northwest-side motel late Wednesday night. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Geoffrey Garcia, was taken into custody.
But Ferdin was also arrested, online records show, for a slew of alleged crimes, including theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and multiple counts of drug possession. She already had a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2016, records show.
The raid happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday at the motel off Wurzbach Road and Interstate 10. San Antonio police officials said it was related to a previous kidnapping incident reported early that morning in the 300 block of Labor Street in the Lavaca neighborhood.
Authorities said SWAT deployed a flashbang while forcing entry into the motel. Ferdin was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries before being taken into custody.
