SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio man once arrested for stealing a live shark out of an aquarium is now accused of a new string of thefts — this time targeting farm equipment and a boat in Atascosa County.
Antone (also known as ‘Anthony’) Sinclair Shannon, previously charged in the 2018 theft of a horn shark from a San Antonio aquarium, is now facing new allegations in Atascosa County, where investigators say he stole thousands of dollars’ worth of property, including an antique tractor and a welding machine.
“He’s just one-of-a-kind, I guess,” Atascosa County Sheriff Jake Guerra said. “This person has made a life out of stealing — being a career criminal. That’s his livelihood: stealing.”
Atascosa County deputies recovered an antique tractor valued at $6,500 that had been stolen from directly across the street from the sheriff’s office.
“It created a big stir in the community because everybody knew it was there,” Guerra said.
Authorities also recovered a welder worth $5,000, reported stolen from a sand plant in northern Atascosa County. That piece of equipment was later found in neighboring Bandera County.
According to investigators, Shannon is also accused of stealing a boat from a dealership in Pleasanton. Guerra said the incidents reflect a growing trend of individuals from Bexar County committing crimes in surrounding rural areas.
“Don’t come to Atascosa County thinking you can just come steal anything you want, that you’re just gonna get away with it,” Guerra said.
Shannon’s arrest was the result of a multi-agency investigation involving the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office and the San Antonio Police Department.
“We will work hard recovering the property and putting them in jail,” Guerra added.
Shannon is currently being held at the Bexar County Jail. A bond has not been set. He is awaiting transport to Atascosa County.
