‘Full circle moment’ | 2 sisters welcome babies at the same hospital a day apart

Sisters were surprised to learn they would be delivering their babies one day apart at a Loudoun County hospital.

DULLES, Va. — For sisters Abigail Kasinski and Kelly Marcum, family has always been everything. But this week, their already large family – both from a brood of nine siblings – grew a little bigger in the most joyous and heartwarming way.

The sisters found out they were pregnant the same week, shared the same doctor and in an extraordinary coincidence, delivered their babies just one day apart at StoneSprings Hospital Center in Loudoun County, Virginia.

“It was really special knowing my sister was delivering at the same time as me,” said Kelly Marcum, now a mother of four.

For Abigail Kasinski, a first-time mom, the experience was even more emotional.

“I think I’ve cried more in the last couple of days than most of my entire life,” she admitted. “Having my first baby, I had no idea what was going on. My sister was my maid of honor a year-and-a-half ago so it was kind of a full circle moment. Now we’re having babies together.”

The unique moment was a first for the hospital as well.

“In my years, this has never happened,” said Katie Beck of StoneSprings’ Women’s and Children’s Services. “It was an exciting event to have them here together.”

The sisters’ love for big families seems to be a running theme.

“I grew up in a huge family, so four is getting up to what I’m used to,” Marcum laughed.

Kasinski’s husband also was one of eight siblings.

As for future additions, both sisters say they are open to however many children, “God wants to send.”

But Kasinski, still recovering from her first delivery, jokingly added, “God, I’m hurting right now, so let’s not.”

One thing is certain—their children will grow up side by side, just like their moms did, continuing their family tradition of togetherness.
