Game wardens seize over $100,000 in stolen equipment at bass fishing tournament at East Texas lake

The wardens found the stolen equipment while inspecting 300 boats, 243 motors and 100 trailers.

ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas — Game Wardens from across East Texas seized over $100,000 in stolen equipment during the state’s largest bass fishing tournament. 

During a patrol, the Texas Game Warden Marine Theft Investigation Unit conducted a patrol during the Sealy Big Bass Splash Tournament at Sam Rayburn Lake, which is the largest amateur fishing tournament in the state. The wardens found over $100,000 worth of stolen equipment while inspecting 300 boats, 243 motors and 100 trailers, according to a Facebook post from the Texas Game Wardens.

The unit worked with San Augustine, Sabine, Angelina, Jasper, Tyler and Nacogdoches County Game Wardens as well.
