Science, style & space all collided at the museum’s first “Geek Gala” — a fun night celebrating curiosity, community & creativity.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Tonight, the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History proved that “Geek is Chic” with an epic evening of curiosity, community, and cosmic fun.
The Geek Gala, held inside the museum’s creative corridors, was anything but your average night at the museum.
From prehistoric creatures to futuristic space missions, the event took guests on a journey through time and beyond – no fancy time machine required.
The theme? A vibrant celebration of science, creativity, and innovation, right here in the Coastal Bend. But this wasn’t just about beakers and bones. The gala was designed to raise both awareness and funds for the museum’s year-round educational exhibits and programs.
“We wanna show them what we geek out over,” said Amy Montez Frye, the museum’s Strategic Initiatives Director.
“Whether you are 2 or 200, you’re going to have a blast here. You’re never too old to have fun learning.”
And that’s exactly what the night delivered: hands-on exhibits, fiery displays, dinosaurs roaming wild again, feathered friends and even a call for local “geeks” to join the fun—whether as junior curators, volunteer tour guides, or even time-traveling actors (yes, really).
The event also served as a reminder that museums aren’t just for school field trips or rainy Saturdays. The Geek Gala aimed to reconnect adults with their sense of wonder.
“This is a museum for all ages,” Frye added. “We’re making sure people remember that—and are reminded of that tonight.”
The museum is currently on the lookout for volunteers with a passion for storytelling, innovation and science. Think you’ve got what it takes to teleport guests through history? They want to hear from you. You can click here to learn more.
Though Thursday’s night at the museum was geared for the adults, Frye said the museum is also looking to add a “junior” Geek Gala to the event line-up in the near future.
