Georgia wrestler who broke neck at state championship voted prom king

JEFFERSON, Ga. — Dominic Haines, the Jefferson High wrestler who broke his neck at the state championships in February, marked a high point in the road to recovery this weekend as he went to prom and was voted the school’s prom king.

In March, 11Alive reported he had transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, a facility known for its expertise in spinal cord rehabilitation. And this weekend he was out at prom showing his resiliency as the recovery process continues.

Previous online fundraisers for Haines described him as “a very outgoing young man whom everyone loves” and noted that he has been a competitive wrestler for the past four years.
