Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum offering new display, memorial books for Carter

Memorial books will be available for the public to sign starting on Dec. 30 until the day of Carter’s burial.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum will be commemorating the life of Former President Jimmy Carter with a new display and memorial pieces for the public to sign. 

“Remembering President Jimmy Carter,” a commemorative display, will open on Dec. 30 and remain up until the day of Carter’s burial. 

The display will feature campaign buttons and historical photographs of Carter and Ford from the 1976 election through their post-presidential friendship. 

The museum and library said memorial books will be available for the public to sign inside the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library in Ann Arbor during this time as well. 

As a tradition, the museum said the books will be sent to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, Georgia. 

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of President Jimmy Carter. His legacy of humanitarianism and dedication to public service is an inspiration to us all,” said Brooke Clement, director of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library & Museum. “Our museum and library mourn the loss of such a statesman and will celebrate his profound contributions with opportunities for the public to take part.”
