Parents, listen up. A major recall is underway involving a popular baby snack. Gerber Products Company has started to recall and discontinue all packages of Gerber Soothe N’ Chew teething sticks. In a news release, the company said the sticks pose a potential choking hazard for babies and toddlers.
Gerber said the recall occurred receiving complaints from customers regarding choking incidents. The company said at least one emergency room visit has been reported. Gerber is working with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on this recall and is cooperating with the agency fully. The product was sold at retailers in more than a dozen states, including Texas.
“We sincerely apologize for any concern or inconvenience this action represents to parents, caregivers and retail customers,” Gerber said in a statement.
If you have these snacks at home, Gerber is urging parents not to feed the teething sticks to their child. They encourage parents to return the product to the store the snack was purchased for a full refund. They also ask concerned parents about any illnesses or injury related to the teething sticks to contact their pediatrician. For any additional support needed, Gerber is available 24 hours a day seven days a week at 1-800-4-GERBER (1-800-443-7237).
