Trophy Club PD said Indy gave years of dedicated service to the community, and now they hope residents will rally behind him during his recovery.
TROPHY CLUB, Texas — The Trophy Club Police Department is asking the community to rally around one of its own, retired K9 Indy, who is recovering from emergency surgery earlier this week.
Indy has been battling gastroenterocolitis, an inflammation of the stomach, small intestine, and colon, since his retirement.
On Monday morning, Indy was rushed into surgery, where doctors discovered a hole in his intestines that had been leaking into his abdominal cavity, Trophy Club PD said in a social media post. Officials say they believe this was the underlying cause of his recent health struggles.
Indy made it through surgery and remains in stable condition, though he is expected to remain hospitalized during his recovery.
The department is inviting the community to show their support by sending “Get Well Soon” cards and letters to Indy. Messages can be mailed to:

The department also expressed gratitude to Project K-9 Hero, an organization that stepped in to cover Indy’s medical expenses and make his treatment possible.
