Girl Scout Cookie season kicks off in Southwest Texas

The Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas are the only council in the state still offering cookies at an affordable $5 price point.

SAN ANTONIO — Girl Scout cookie season has officially begun across Southwest Texas, marking the start of one of the most highly anticipated annual traditions.

From Thin Mints to Tagalongs, all your favorite cookies are back on shelves starting today. But this year, there’s some bittersweet news for fans of the campfire-inspired S’mores cookie—it’s being retired from the lineup. If S’mores are your favorite, now’s the time to stock up before they’re gone for good!

These iconic cookies are available at local retailers like H-E-B and Walmart or online at girlscouts.org, and even at select restaurants around the region.

The season runs through Sunday, March 2, and cookie prices remain an affordable $5 per box. In fact, the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas are the only council in the state still offering cookies at this price point.

But Girl Scout cookies are more than just a delicious snack—they support programs and initiatives that benefit local communities.

“It’s about more than cookies,” said Angie Salinas, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas. “Every box sold stays in the community and helps fund service projects, summer camps, and troop adventures.”

Last year, over 1.2 million boxes were sold in the region and this year, the council is aiming even higher. With over 700,000 boxes expected to be sold across 21 counties! It’s clear the community is rallying behind this sweet tradition.

There’s even more excitement to look forward to during cookie season.

From Feb. 21 to March 2, the Girl Scout Cookie Flavor Fest will take over San Antonio. Local favorites like Kulture Kafe, Rosario’s and Re:Rooted 210 Winery will feature cookie-inspired dishes and drinks, giving fans a new way to enjoy these classic flavors.

Whether you’re a loyal to Thin Mints or saying a bittersweet goodbye to S’mores with one last box, this season is about more than just treats. It’s a celebration of young entrepreneurs gaining essential skills like money management, business planning, and leadership. As Salinas puts it, “It’s about the girls. Every cookie sold helps them learn and grow.”

So don’t wait! Stock up on your favorites while supporting a cause that makes a difference right here in Southwest Texas.
