Girlfriend’s search for Wembanyama jersey spawns new hilarious nickname; Austin Spurs make historic win

Someone inadvertently created a hilarious new nickname for the Spurs center.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama is known by many nicknames: “The Alien,” “Generational,” and “One-of-a-kind,” and is also known as part of “Area 51” alongside Stephon Castle.

But I am sure no one, not even Wemby, would have seen him get mistakenly called a cake.

An incredibly nice girlfriend took to the internet to search for a Wemby jersey for her boyfriend.

However, she could not recall the Spurs center’s name and inadvertently gave him a new nickname: “Hector Banana Bread.”

“This one is pretty dumb, but I vaguely remember that the player’s name sounded like ‘Hector Banana-Bread.’ However, if I put that name into Google, I just get banana bread recipes so the name is probably way off.”

Let’s say no one should be surprised if fans start making custom “Hector Banana bread” jerseys and wearing them at games.

Also, don’t forget to vote for “Banana Bread” to represent the Spurs at the 2025 NBA All-Star Game.
