Give back with ‘Pride’ | South Texas Blood & Tissue to host blood drive at Bonham Exchange

All donors will receive a special-edition PRIDE t-shirt.

SAN ANTONIO — As Pride Month officially kicks off, South Texas Blood and Tissue has announced it will host a blood drive at the Bonham Exchange on Tuesday, June 4 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

All donors will receive a special-edition “I Gave With Pride” t-shirt, a H-E-B Lucky Draw and Creamy Creations voucher as well as entry for a chance to win a paid two year lease on a 2024 Ford Mustang Ecoboost or $10,000 cash.

The FDA revised its guidelines for blood donations by gay men, basing eligibility on individual risks for exposure to HIV instead of sexual orientation. More information on eligibility requirements and FDA revisions can be found here.

“Blood donation in our nation has become more inclusive, as discriminatory barriers have been lifted to encourage a wider range of donors,” said San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “This significant milestone blood drive marks a step forward in ensuring that everyone feels welcome to help save lives.”

According to a release from the center, the blood drive comes at a critical time as donations in the community have dropped 25% .
