‘Goat yoga’ adds animal experience to traditional yoga poses

Goat yoga arrives at Hyatt Hill Country Resort, offering therapeutic poses with playful goats every Sunday.

SAN ANTONIO — If you have ever wanted to enhance your yoga experience, now is your chance!

The company Goat Shenanigans and the Hyatt Hill Country Resort have partnered to bring goat yoga to the lawn of the hotel.

The unique experience combines therapeutic yoga poses with fun animal interactions. Laura Romer with Goat Shenanigans says its the perfect fit for their animals.

“Goats by nature love to climb. I am sure you have seen those crazy photos of goat scaling rocks and that is just built into their DNA. So we just try to motivate them. They are very food motivated, naturally,” Romer says. ” So whenever we have yoga poses like flat backs, high shoulders, the goats just naturally want to climb.”

Romer says it is an unforgettable experience.

“I think the best thing about goats is tha tthey bring out this joy we all have in ous. And whether you are a kid or a kid at heart, you just see it on everyone’s faces, the smiles are bigger, the laughter is louder,” Romer said. “Not only are you moving your body and gettting outside, you are just really happy about it…we all need more joy in our life!”

The goats come from the Goat Shenanigans farm on Shaenfield Road. The company’s very friendly goats can be used to enhance a range of functions like birthday parties, fitness classes and art events.

Goat yoga is offered every Sunday morning at the Hyatt Hill Country resort. The company says the class is 45 minutes and is beginner friendly. Kids ages 10 and up are also invited to join.
