GoFundMe created to help family pay medical bills of 1-year-old killed in Bexar County daycare tragedy

MKaya Amrani tragically died following a weekslong fight for her life after a car crashed into a fenced-in play area at the ExcellED Montessori Plus Daycare.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The family of MKaya Amrani, the 1-year-old tragically killed after a car crashed into a fenced-in play area at a Bexar County daycare, has created a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses.

Mkaya Amrani was one of several children hospitalized after a car crashed into a fenced-in play area at the ExcellED Montessori Plus Daycare Preschool on Dec. 19. A 22-year-old teacher also lost her life after she was reportedly pinned under the car that crashed into the fence.

After two weeks of fighting for her life, Amrani passed away due to her injuries.

Now as the family grieves, they are also looking for answers. Her father said he believes his child should have never been in a play area so close to the parking lot.

“We’re going to dedicate to spread awareness and if that means we got to drive by every daycare and make sure we raise the concerns of it being too close to high traffic areas, we’ll do that,” Amrani’s father said.

The family has created a GoFundMe, with a goal of $150,000, to help cover their medical expenses.
