SAN ANTONIO — Governor Abbot is in San Antonio Monday, expected to sign a bill that will officially create the Texas Cyber Command, to be headquartered right here at UTSA.
The purpose of the Cyber Command Center is to better secure our state from cyber attacks, according to the governor. It was one of his emergency items this legislative session.
Its expected to bring dozens of jobs here to San Antonio
The Cyber Command Center will provide education and resources to enhance the state’s capabilities, as well as investigate and respond to cyber incidents.
The governor believes a Cyber Command Center is necessary, saying “threats from China, Iran, and Russia and other foreign enemies are growing.” The creation of the Texas Cyber Command Center falls under House Bill 1450, which allocates $135.5 million through 2027.
The Texas Cyber Command Center is expected to be fully operational by the end of next year.
The governor will hold his bill signing Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
