Grandmother injured when 12-year-old moving truck accidentally backs into her, police say

No explanation was provided for why a child was operating the vehicle.

SAN ANTONIO — A 12-year-old boy accidentally hit his grandmother while backing up a truck late Tuesday evening, according to police.

Police say that “due to age and physical size, the driver was unable to properly operate the vehicle and accidently put the vehicle in reverse.”

It happened after 10 p.m. on Felix Trevino Way on the south side of San Antonio.

Police say a family was packing up to move and had a truck backed up to an apartment. The child was moving the vehicle when he ended up hitting his grandmother with the car door on her leg. No explanation was provided for why a child was operating the vehicle.

She was taken to University Hospital with an injured knee.

This is a developing story.
