Beeville Police Chief Kevin Behr said Monday she was taken to the hospital after suffering cardiac issues shortly after the infant’s recent death, but he did not say when.
Neither her identity nor the infant’s identities have been confirmed nor released by officials.
The older woman is expected to be arrested on charges of criminally negligent homicide this week.
Officers said when they arrived at the house to respond to the call, the baby was in her arms.
