CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —
A large grass fire led TxDOT to close FM 188 to Rockport while units assist with containing the fire in Aransas County.
In a post shared to social media, Refugio County Sheriff Matthew Tuttle confirmed that volunteer fire departments from Refugio, Woodsboro and Bayside are in Aransas County on FM 188 helping to put out the large grass fire.
Sheriff Tuttle urged residents to avoid the area, if possible, while units work on the scene. Smoke from the fire has drifted into surrounding areas.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, stay with 3NEWS for updates.
