Great Texas Airshow returns to JBSA-Randolph with Thunderbirds and Golden Knights

Free event will feature high-flying military demonstrations and family-friendly activities May 2-3.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio is gearing up for a sky-high spectacle as the Great Texas Airshow returns to JBSA-Randolph on May 2 and 3.

Headlining this year’s event are the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights, bringing jaw-dropping aerial stunts and precision flying to the Alamo City.

The 2026 theme, “Let Freedom Roar; Honoring 250 Years,” celebrates a milestone moment with performances that highlight the power and history of the U.S. military.

Gates open at 9 a.m. each day, with aerial performances beginning at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

In addition to the headliners, attendees can expect demonstrations from aircraft including the C-17, KC-46 and F-22, along with static displays and participation from all branches of the military.

Festivities begin early with a Military Appreciation Day on Friday, May 1, featuring a STEM fair, cyber activities and practice aerial demonstrations for Department of War ID cardholders.

Organizers say acts are subject to change, but one thing is certain — all eyes will be on the sky.
