Jaren Martinez, 27, is accused of physically assaulting an adult female member of his household, Guadalupe County officials said.
SAN ANTONIO — A man is accused of physically assaulting an adult female member of his household and hiding from law enforcement before being taken into custody.
The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a physical disturbance call at the 500 block of Anderson Lane near Martindale on Saturday.
Officials said 27-year-old Jaren Martinez allegedly physically assaulted a 27-year-old woman and threatened to harm other members of the household with a knife. He fled the scene on foot and was believed to still be armed with a knife, according to GCSO.
During a search of the property, officials said deputies located Martinez hiding under a trailer. He allegedly resisted arrest and refused to surrender. Officials said he warned deputies he was armed with a knife and told them to shoot him.
Deputies deployed four non-lethal rounds from a 40 mm launcher, according to officials, and Martinez surrendered shortly after.
Martinez was charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member and resisting arrest, search or transport. He was booked into the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Facility.
Officials said Martinez also had active arrest warrants on multiple charges.
