H-E-B closes northeast Austin store following deadly shooting as APD investigates

Austin police said this was not an active shooter incident. H-E-B confirms they’re cooperating with APD’s investigation.

AUSTIN, Texas — A person is dead following a shooting at an H-E-B in northeast Austin on Friday.

Austin police say the shooting happened at the H-E-B on West Canyon Ridge Drive, near I-35 and East Parmer Lane just before 4 p.m.

According to authorities, the person was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries before they later died from their injuries. Police said that the shooter stayed at the scene and that this was not an active shooter incident.

An H-E-B employee tells KVUE that the location will close for the rest of the day. The company also confirmed they’re cooperating with law enforcement on their investigation.
