UVALDE, Texas — The H-E-B Mobile Kitchen is stepping up to serve meals to students and families after the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) announced a temporary closure this week.
Over the weekend, the district said it had reported a cyber security threat to the FBI after “ransomware” was detected in servers across the district, severely impacting access to several essential online systems.
The crippling technology incident prompted the district to close all school campuses from Monday, Sept.15 to Friday, Sept. 19 as the FBI conducts its investigation.
From Tuesday through Friday, H-E-B will have its Mobile Kitchen in Uvalde serving hot meals to the impacted community. The drive-thru meal distribution will be hosted at the Uvalde Dual Language Academy located on 224 North Benson Road.
The Mobile Kitchen will serve breakfast and lunch each day with no registration required. The hours of operation are as follows.
Breakfast: Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 9 a.m.
Lunch: Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
