SAN ANTONIO — The 2025-2026 school year is underway and many teachers go above and beyond for their students and H-E-B wants to recognize those educators.
H-E-B announced that nominations for the 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards are now open until Sept. 30. Anyone can nominate their favorite Texas educator by clicking here.
All state-certified public school teachers, counselors and principals are eligible to win cash prizes for themselves and their schools. Early childhood centers, school boards and districts can also receive cash awards for the contributions.
“The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards celebrate the transformative impact of Texas educators who pour their hearts into empowering students and uplifting communities,” Jill Reynolds, H-E-B Public Affairs Manager, said. “A nomination is more than recognition—it’s an invitation to unlock resources and elevate the work of exceptional educators, schools and the neighborhoods they serve.”
The educators who are nominated will receive an invitation to apply before Nov. 2. Finalists and winners will be selected by a panel of judges from all over the Lone Star State.
In Houston, during the Spring of 2026, 10 winners will be announced, including six teachers, two principals and two counselors. An early childhood facility, a public school board and two school districts will also receive awards. Each award recipient’s school will also receive a matching grant.
Since 2002, the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program has awarded almost $15 million in funding to finalists, winners and schools. In 2024, the program distributed $782,000 in cash and grants to Texas educators and schools.
