Halloween shooting victim appears in Bexar County juvenile court in a wheelchair

Court officials say the 16-year-old is not the accused gunman but he did violate the terms of his probation.

SAN ANTONIO — New video has surfaced of a Halloween night attack that sent four teenagers to hospitals in San Antonio.

A home surveillance camera on Lee Hall Street captured the chaos when teens attending a party had to scramble for their lives as gunfire sprayed the street where they were standing.

On Wednesday, one of the teens who was shot in the attack made an appearance in juvenile court, even though he is not the suspected gunman.

The 16-year-old, who came to court in a wheelchair, is still recovering from his injuries.

Court officials said the teen has been detained because he was already on probation and he is accused of violating the terms of his release.

Admonishing the teen from the bench, Judge Cruz Shaw said, “Nothing good happens after 10:00, especially when you’re doing something crazy.”

The teen’s court-ordered curfew is 7 p.m.

The judge told him if he had been home instead of at a midnight party, he might have avoided being shot. A probation officer told the judge the teen also failed a drug screen when he was taken into custody.

The judge ruled the teen needs to remain in custody until his next hearing in 10 business days.

The shooting remains under investigation. There’s been no word of arrests in the case.
