Authorities said Thursday morning that the two had stab wounds.
SAN ANTONIO — Authorities have identified the father and child found dead in the parking lot of Hardberger Park as Daniel Cesar Arjona-Soto and Benjamin Arjona-Palacio.
Arjona-Soto was 34 years old and Benjamin had just turned 1 on Christmas.
San Antonio police responded to the north-side park, located along Blanco Road, around 8 p.m. Wednesday when officials say they found the two dead in Arjona-Soto’s car. Officials are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.
The Bexar County medical examiner said Thursday morning that they both had stab wounds; Arjona-Soto is believed to have killed his son before taking his own life.
A family member found the bodies inside a vehicle after Arjona-Soto contacted them saying he “might injure the child if they don’t make it here in time,” according to Officer Ricardo Guzman, a public information officer with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
“He then sent the location of where he was at, which was here at the park. The family member arrived at the park, located the vehicle and inside the vehicle found both individuals deceased,” Guzman said, adding the information was preliminary and could change over the course of the investigation.
That family member then called police.

Guzman said it wasn’t yet known how much time passed between when the man first called his relative and their arrival at Hardberger Park.
