AUSTIN, Texas — A Hays County corrections officer is facing charges after an alleged sexual assault in Guadalupe County earlier this month.
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office said it was notified by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 26 that 28-year-old Miguel Simpson had been arrested in the county for sexual assault.
The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office said the alleged assault happened on Feb. 1 and was reported by a victim on Feb. 3. A warrant for Simpson’s arrest in the county was issued on Feb. 25, and he was arrested that morning.
While the criminal investigation unfolds in Guadalupe County, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said that it is simultaneously conducting an administrative investigation into Simpson over the charges. At this time, Simpson remains employed.
