According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the 3 injured people were found in the warehouse. A fourth he said was possibly connected was taken to the hospital, where he died.
HOUSTON — One person is dead and three others injured after a shooting inside a warehouse in north Harris County that investigators say is used for an unlicensed after-hours bar.
The scene unfolded on Mitchell Road near Airline Drive at around 4 a.m. Sunday. Deputies who responded said it started as some type of altercation among several people that led to shots being fired inside the warehouse.
Three people who were found injured inside the warehouse were said to be in serious condition. Two of them suffered were grazed by gunfire and investigators say one was severely beaten.
A fourth person who Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez initially said was possibly connected to the scene was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, where he was pronounced dead. A sheriff’s office spokesperson later confirmed to KHOU 11 that the man was, in fact, connected to the scene.
There are multiple businesses in the complex. Deputies zeroed in on the warehouse where the shooting happened through a trail of blood.
“The deputies weren’t concerned because there was a large amount of blood in the parking lot, so they followed the blood trail back to the business,” said Sgt. Ben Beall with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “The business had shut down, locked the door, and all of the employees had left the scene.”
Beall said because of the amount of blood, deputies forced their way into the warehouse through the front door and confirmed there were no other victims. He said they were waiting for a warrant so they could go inside and collect evidence.
At this point, no arrests have been made. It’s also not clear who did the shooting. Detectives are working to sort that out now.
