HOUSTON — A toddler was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Tomball area Saturday, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
It happened along Cook Road in northwest Harris County.
In a post to X Saturday afternoon, Gonzalez said the 18-month-old girl was in a car parked in a driveway with her mother, who he said was either passed out or asleep. The toddler got out of the vehicle and was standing in the driveway when the mother’s boyfriend, who was in another car, pulled in and hit her.
The toddler was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Gonzalez, the mother was being arrested and charged with child endangerment. The boyfriend was being arrested for felony warrants, Gonzalez posted. He will also be assessed to see if he was impaired in any way.
This is a developing story. Additional details will be added as they are learned.
Editor’s note: We originally reported in this story that it happened in southwest Harris County. It was actually in the Tomball area. We have corrected the location in this story.
