Noemi Moreno suspects the masked assailants followed her from the Bank of America in Leon Springs to her relative’s home.
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — What began as a normal Friday afternoon quickly turned into a terrifying encounter for one woman in Leon Springs who says she was attacked by two masked individuals in broad daylight.
“It happened so fast, but it felt like it was in slow motion to me,” said Noemi Moreno.
The attack occurred on June 6, shortly after she visited a bank in Leon Springs to cash some checks. After finishing her errands, she says she drove to her mother-in-law’s nearby home to pick up her children.
Moreno believes the suspects followed her from the bank, although she wasn’t actively aware at the time.
Surveillance footage captured the moments when a red SUV drove by Moreno as she parked outside her relative’s home. As she got out of the car with her money-filled purse, that same SUV circled back with two strangers dressed entirely in black.
“They started pulling my purse and they pulled me so hard I fell to the ground,” she said.
Moreno screamed as she tried to fight off the assailants. She held onto the purse for dear life as the brief struggle ensued.
That’s when her mother-in-law’s dog, Rambo, jumped into action and rushed toward the attackers who at that point gave up and zoomed off.
Fellow family members in the house then came out to Moreno’s aid and called 911. Moreno stressed she’s grateful the incident didn’t escalate beyond the short tug-of-war.
“Rambo, he’s a pit bull. He saved me. Thank God for him,” Moreno said.
After what happened, Moreno said she’s keeping extra vigilant when out and about by herself.
“I’m terrified. I’m always looking around now and making sure nobody’s following me. I’m kind of leery going places by myself now,” Moreno said. “I want them to get arrested because I’m afraid they’re going to do that to somebody else.”
As of now, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has not released any detailed suspect information beyond what was seen in surveillance footage. The case remains under investigation.
