Heads up, drivers: Northbound I-35 at I-410 closed until 6 p.m. Sunday

If your commute takes you through northbound I-35 at Loop 410, you’ll want to plan ahead.

SAN ANTONIO — SAN ANTONIO — If your commute takes you through northbound I-35 at Loop 410, you’ll want to plan ahead.

As part of the I-35 Northeast Expansion Program, crews will shut down the northbound mainlanes at Loop 410 for bridge work until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026.

The closure begins at 8 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m. while work is underway.

TxDOT says drivers should expect delays and follow the posted detour.

Here’s how the detour works:
Drivers on northbound I-35 will take Exit 164A to Rittiman Road and move onto the northbound frontage road. From there, keep right to enter the southbound Loop 410 frontage road. You’ll use the signalized turnaround at Binz Engleman Road to head back north on the Loop 410 frontage road toward Rittiman, where you can re-enter I-35 using the first available entrance ramp.

Construction is weather permitting and plans could change, so officials recommend checking traffic conditions before heading out.
