Hemisfair says it opens on March 7. This new section of Civic Park connects Hemisfair with “one of the busiest pedestrian intersections in the city.”
SAN ANTONIO — Just in time for Spring Break!
In a Facebook post, Hemisfair has announced the day Civic Park Phase 2 will open.
In the post, the district says the second phase will open on March 7. Phase 1 opened in September 2023.
This new section of Civic Park connects Hemisfair with “one of the busiest pedestrian intersections in the city.” The post goes on to say visitors will be able to enjoy a tree-lined walkway that connects downtown and southtown.


The newest addition includes:
- Source Plaza: “Considered San Antonio’s front porch at the corner of Market Street and S. Alamo Street – the busiest pedestrian intersection in the city!”
- The Promenade: “A shady, pedestrian connection between Downtown and Southtown.”
- The Zócalo: “A flexible terrace with seating, decorative tilework and a water feature inspired by our region’s acequias.”
- The Stage: “A new home for concerts and large-scale events at the north end of the Great Lawn.”




The post announces that a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on March 18 at 10 a.m.
