
The Paralympic Games will kick off on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
PARIS, France — The torch has been lit and the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are ready to commence on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
The games will feature many competitions throughout its 11-day stint, which will last through Sept. 8.
According to the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, the state of Texas is bringing the third-most athletes to games behind California and Illinois. So, it’s safe to say the Lone Star State will be well represented in the Paralympics, as it was in the Olympics earlier this summer.
Below is a list of each Texas athlete, and a tracker of their Paris 2024 Paralympics performance.
Who are the Texans representing Team USA at the 2024 Paralympics?
- Ariana Aguila-Ramos – Para Taekwondo
- From Houston, Aguila-Ramos will compete in Para Taekwondo under the K44 classification, which are athletes with impairments in either or both of their upper limbs, according to the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

- Jazmin Almlie-Ryan – Para Shooting
- Almlie-Ryan, from Katy, is a two-time Paralympian competing in Mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2 and Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH2.

- Korban Best – Para Track and Field
- Best is a 21-year-old from Southlake, and will compete in the 100-meter in the T47 classification.

- Jeremy Campbell – Para Track and Field
- From Perryton, the four-time Paralympic Gold medalist will compete in the Discus throw under the F64 classification.

- Kaitlyn Eaton – Wheelchair Basketball
- Eaton is from Houston, and she will compete on the women’s wheelchair basketball team in the 1.5 classification, which she earned a bronze medal for in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

- John Joss – Para Shooting
- Joss, a veteran and two-time Paralympian from Corsicana, will compete in Para Shooting under the SH1 classification.

- Chelsea Stein – Para Track and Field
- Stein, from Spring, will compete in Para Track and Field.

- Jason Tabansky – Para Archery
- Tabansky, from Brownsville, recently won Gold at the 2024 Parapan American Championships for MW1 – individual and team. He will compete in Para Archery under the W1 classification.

- Jordan White – Para Archery
- From Cedar Park, White is the youngest U.S. archer to qualify for the Paralympics at just 15 years old, and the youngest member of Team USA. He will compete in the Recurve Open classification.

- Fabian Romo – Wheelchair Basketball
- Romo, from Houston, led his UT-Arlington Movin’ Mavs to a national championship in 2017. More recently, he won gold at the 2023 World Championships.

- Kelly Elmlinger – Paratriathlon
- Elmlinger, from San Antonio, Texas, is a veteran who will compete in the Paratriathlon. In 2020, Elmlinger placed 7th in the Tokyo Paralympics.

- Marco De La Rosa – Para Shooting
- From San Antonio, Texas, veteran De La Rosa will compete in Para Shooting, specifically in the P1- 10m Air Pistol SH1 classification.

- Lizzi Smith – Para Swimming
- Smith, a three-time Paralympic medalist who trains in Austin, Texas, is set to compete for another medal in Paris under the S9 classification.
