Here’s one way to get a gator off your front porch…

A construction crew used a rope to remove it and release it into a nearby culvert.

CONROE, Texas — A Conroe homeowner got a wild surprise Friday morning when a gator decided to lounge on their front porch.

It happened in the Hills of Westlake subdivision. The uninvited guest was spotted near the front door of the home, located off Highway 105, according to neighbor Eddie Kexel. A passerby noticed the gator and alerted a nearby group of construction workers, who quickly stepped in to help.

Video from the scene shows the workers using a rope to carefully pull the alligator away from the house. At one point, one man can be seen using a piece of plywood as a shield while the gator thrashed around on the driveway.

The gator was eventually released nearby, but not before giving the neighborhood quite the scare.

Kexel said the homeowner typically lets their dog out on an extended leash in the front yard, something they may reconsider after Friday’s close call.

No injuries were reported, but neighbors say they’ll be keeping a closer eye out for wildlife from now on.
