When is the deadline to declare for the NFL Draft?

With changes to the College Football Playoff, the NFL altered procedures for prospects who want to go pro.

This year, the soft deadline for players who had their season end early is Jan. 6, with a traditional hard deadline of Jan. 15 for special eligibility. Ohio State and Notre Dame players have until Jan. 24 to declare for the draft following the College Football Playoff National Championship.

On Jan. 25, NFL teams will get a list of names of those who renounced their eligibility to go pro. The deadline for those automatically eligible for the draft – meaning they’ve completed four years of eligibility – have until Feb. 7 to opt out.

When will Quinn Ewers declare for the NFL Draft?

Ewers said before Friday’s loss to Ohio State that he expects to enter the draft and would decide after the Longhorns’ season ended.

However, Ewers has been quiet about his future after rumors he was offered $6 million to enter the transfer portal. Ewers told ESPN he “hasn’t even paid attention” to the rumors. His deadline to declare for the NFL Draft is Wednesday, Jan. 15.

NFL executives are divided on Ewers, with some believing he’s one of the top 100 prospects in the draft, while others aren’t as convinced.
