The Texas grocery chain has a handful of new locations and renovations in development in and around Central Texas, with work progressing on two new storefronts in Georgetown and Manor. That latter one signifies the grocer’s first footprint in Manor — an addition to the community that residents are welcoming with open arms.
MySA asked Manor residents to tell us what they were most excited about with the first H-E-B coming to town. Overwhelmingly, responders said they’re thrilled to have expanded grocery options locally and to not have to travel into surrounding communities, like Elgin and Pflugerville, for H-E-B runs.
“I’m excited to have a business in our town that believes everyone belongs!” resident Zana Carbajal responded. “That fights for local Central Texas nonprofits like Zilker Threatre Productions and Blues on the Green. They have amazing products and a company culture of giving. We need that type of energy in our town right now.”
While some commenters shared concerns over projected traffic and roadway impacts, they said the addition of H-E-B will cut down grocery commute times — which can easily run 40 minutes to one hour round trip. It will also help bring a diversity of choice to town, with many residents saying they’re currently reliant on grocery shopping at Walmart if they don’t want to make the out-of-town commute.
With that slashed commute time, it doesn’t just mean cost savings on gas, but preservation of some beloved H-E-B treats.
“Excited that my H-E-B creamy creations ice cream will not ever be melted before I get home again!!!” resident Jeanette Reyes wrote.
H-E-B officials confirmed to MySA the inaugural Manor store is expected to open by mid-to-late fall 2025 at the intersection of Highway 290 and FM 973. Construction on the $26.1 million project began back in November and is expected to wrap by October 2025, according to current project filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
As construction on the site progresses, residents said they’re eager to have more robust fresh produce and meat selections at reasonable prices locally, adding major perks at H-E-B include the grocer’s plant and flower selections alongside its pharmacy operations.
Zeroing in on H-E-B favorites, many said you can’t go wrong with the store’s sushi and tortillas prepared in-house, as well as access to curbside pickup services.
“Plus side: Easy access to butter tortillas. Downside: Easy access to butter tortillas. (RIP my diet),” resident Rob Higareda joked.
