Well folks, it happened. On Sunday morning, March 10 right after 1:59 a.m., the clocks made the leap forward to 3.a.m., and now we’re all scrambling to find extra caffeine. I for one, am indifferent to Daylight Saving Time, because no matter what, I’ll make do with the time change.

On days like Sunday, we skip ahead the hour in order to make better use of natural daylight, according to Time and Date. And despite the loss of an hour of sleep for some, others are more than happy to celebrate that the time change that signifies spring means much longer daylight.

In the last few weeks, MySA has shared a story on social media about Daylight Saving being on the way, and the comments lit up with folks both in support of, and against the change.

“I hate it,” one commenter on Facebook wrote. “We stay outside too late and eat too late. Hard to get children to bed for school. It stinks.” Other folks agreed, following up with comments saying how much they hate the change, and even others simply adding angry face emojis. “[L]ess upset about losing a measly hour one night, than the fact that this whole exercise is a literal & unnecessary waste of time,” commenter Kathy Hannemann Lenhardt said. Another commenter said it was “About time they stopped this nonsense.”

A couple of others are even asking why we are still doing it in the first place. “Leave it alone,” Linda Clapper Culpeper wrote. “I don’t care if it’s DLST or what just stop changing it forth and back.”

Meanwhile, some commenters seemed to flow in the other direction. “Yay! More daylight in the evening,” Shirley Huizar Miccolis said. “Let’s keep daylight saving time year round!” Another commenter, Sherri Peak, said she could not wait for Sunday, and wished it would “stay that way.”

“Thrilled, 8 p.m. sunsets coming soon,” Dayna Worthen-Reynolds said in the comments. One commenter even sang a song about it. “Hello darkness my old friend, now you come at 9 p.m.,” commenter Jeff Fischer wrote.

It’s a mixed bag of emotions from everyone, with points being valid on both ends. I don’t blame either, one bit. However, I will say, I am looking forward to longer days. But I am not looking forward to the Texas heat. That, I can do with less of.
