Here’s when San Antonio will host the Final Four next

The college basketball world will turn to the Alamo City once more this decade. Here’s when.

SAN ANTONIO — The Hemisfair stages will soon start to disassembled, the tight Alamodome security will loosen, and the River Walk has already been emptied out of fans wearing orange, blue and red.

Another Final Four has come and gone in San Antonio, with Florida cementing its place in the history books after a 65-63 win in Monday’s NCAA Championship that secured the school’s third men’s basketball title. It was the culmination of a four-day celebration that turned downtown into a sports oasis, bringing NBA dignitaries like Shaq, Dwight Howard and David Robinson to the heart of the city.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that more than 100,000 people visited town for Final Four festivities.

This was the eighth time San Antonio hosted the Final Four, be it the women’s or men’s tournaments—the most out of any Texas city. It won’t have to wait too long for No. 9.

The NCAA Women’s Final Four will tip off at the Alamodome on March 30, 2029, in what will be the city’s fourth time hosting the semifinals and championship on the women’s side. It will also be the first since San Antonio organized a more limited pandemic-era Final Four in 2021, when Stanford bested Arizona in front of fewer than 5,000 spectators.

San Antonio hasn’t been tapped for another Men’s Final Four yet; the NCAA has determined its host cities through the 2031 tournament.

But it will host the South Regional matchups at Frost Bank Center on March 25-27, 2027. That means local basketball fans will have a chance to watch a trio of Sweet 16 and Elite Eight matchups that will determine one of the Final Four teams that year, and potentially one of the last major basketball games ever at the arena should the Spurs achieve their dream of a downtown arena.
