DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys season will be here before you know it, and that means we’re getting a look at the 2025 schedule soon.
While the full schedule gets released Wednesday, May 14, the NFL typically announces featured games in the lead-up to the full release. And if Cowboys fans tried to forget the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl, they got a reminder Monday morning: The NFL announced that the Cowboys will play at the Eagles on opening night, Sept. 4, on NBC at 7:20 p.m.

For the Cowboys, it will be an early test for new coach Brian Schottenheimer, who will try to lead Dallas to a bounce-back season after a disappointing 7-10 campaign. They’ll have a revamped offense against the Eagles after drafting offensive guard Tyler Booker and running back Jaydon Blue and trading for Steelers receiver George Pickens. Pickens is expected to be a solid No. 2 receiving option to All-Pro CeeDee Lamb. Also, quarterback Dak Prescott is healthy again after having to undergo season-ending hamstring surgery in 2024.
The Cowboys have been in this position before, facing a Super Bowl champion on opening night. In 2021, they played at Tampa Bay, which was coming off a Tom Brady-led title the year before. The Cowboys narrowly lost to the Buccaneers that night.
