Highlands High School on lockout status, SAISD officials say

SAN ANTONIO — SAISD officials said Thursday morning Highlands High School is on lockout status.

The high school was placed on lockdown earlier in theday, but SAISD officials said school officers transitioned it to a lockout. Lockout means that all students and staff remain safely inside and the school operates in a normal manner, but no individuals are allowed to enter the building unless designated by the principal.

There is no word on what led up to the lockdown and lockout. A KENS 5 crew is on the scene attempting to gather more information.
