“He deserves it for sure,” De’Aaron Fox said, laughing about the team prank on the rookie.
SAN ANTONIO — He may be an incredible player on the court, but that doesn’t mean that San Antonio Spurs‘ Stephon Castle is immune to some lighthearted rookie hazing.
Following the Spurs’ win over the Mavericks Wednesday night, Blake Wesley and the rest of the team escorted Castle to his car.
With Wesley’s arm around his shoulder, the team began to laugh as Castle soon realized he was the target of a rookie prank and discovered the team had removed the wheels off his car.
Devin Vassell captured and shared the hilarious moment as Castle surveyed his wheel-less car, his teammates laughing and Sandro Mamukelashvili letting the rookie know it was all fun.
De’Aaron Fox commented on the prank, noting he’d never seen it get to that level before in his NBA career.
“That’s my first time seeing somebody do that. I’ve seen popcorn, but never getting the wheels taken off when you’re a rookie,” he said.
However, Fox also mentioned that Castle isn’t subject to any rookie chores, and he needed to be hazed.
“For sure. Something needed to happen to him. Does he bring anything to the plane? Does it bring any food? Snacks? Least he could do his pass the shoes out for shoot around, but no, he deserves it for sure.”
