Hip-hop artist Dorrough clears the air regarding Mavs music video after fans claim Luka was edited out

Dorrough said the video’s silhouettes weren’t placed over Luka at all.

DALLAS, Texas — If you’re from Dallas, you may know the name Dorrough.

The rapper and hip-hop star is known for his hit tracks “Ice Cream Paint Job” and “Walk that Walk”. He’s always repped his hometown and home teams.

“I’m a Mavericks fan, been that for life,” Dorrough said. “I was a little kid in Mavericks jerseys before we were even good.”

His loyalty to the team even led him to collaborate with the Mavs on a hype song, but this latest project didn’t make headlines for the reason he expected.

On Friday, the Mavericks’ official X account posted a music video created by Dorrough’s team. The video was meant to hype up the fanbase. Instead, it sparked controversy online.

“I’m getting calls about it being on SportsCenter and everywhere,” Dorrough said. “It went a whole different way. None of that was intended.”

Many fans assumed that Luka Dončić had been intentionally erased, but Dorrough set the record straight.

“Once the Luka trade happened, we obviously knew we had to take out all the Luka clips,” he explained.

Instead, the video’s silhouettes were placed over players like Quentin Grimes and Maxi Kleber — not Luka. In fact, every clip of Luka was removed entirely to avoid any confusion.

“I understand the fans’ outrage, and it’s probably going to be there for a while,” he said. “Even right now, when I see Luka in a Lakers jersey, it just doesn’t even look real.”

As fate would have it, Luka faces his former team tonight for the first time since the trade. They play again in Dallas on April 9. Dorrough wishes him well but makes it clear where his loyalty stands.

“We still have a dominant Mavericks team. Shoutout to Kyrie, Klay, P.J. Washington and AD,” Dorrough said. “The Mavs are still the Mavs.”

Dallas may have lost Luka, but his passion for the team isn’t going anywhere.
