SAN ANTONIO — A piece of Texas history will be recognized this week as the City of San Antonio unveils a new “History Here” marker honoring San Antonio Lodge No. 1, the first Masonic Lodge for African Americans in the state.

The ceremony will take place Wednesday, Feb. 25 at noon at the lodge, located at 1163 Rice Road.

The unveiling is part of the city’s Black History Month observances and highlights the lodge’s 150-year legacy of leadership, service and fellowship in the San Antonio community.
