Hit-and-run horror: Family says tire marks found on victim’s back

Alexandra Rodriguez was found unconscious on the afternoon of Nov. 8 during rush hour at a west-side apartment complex.

SAN ANTONIO — A 32-year-old mother is fighting for her life after she was run over and left in the parking lot of a Military Drive apartment complex earlier this month, family members told KENS 5.

Alexandra Rodriguez was found unconscious on the afternoon of Nov. 8 during rush hour. Police said she was discovered in the parking lot of the complex, and her family believes she was walking home from the parking lot when she was struck. Tire marks were found on her lower back, relatives said.

Rodriguez suffered two skull fractures and remains in a medically induced coma.

“Yesterday I talked to [the] brain doctor. He said I just have to have some patience,” her mother, Annette Cardenas, told KENS 5. “Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. She was so looking forward to it.”

Instead, Rodriguez will spend the holiday in the hospital.

“It’s been hard also because she has three young boys that need her, and I’m just kind of lost for words,” said her aunt, Brenda Sanchez.

Police have not released information about a suspect or vehicle. But the family hopes investigators will soon share an image of the man they believe is responsible for the major crash.

“We don’t know if he lived in the apartments or if he was visiting,” Cardenas said. “We do know he was driving. We do know [the vehicle] has damage to it, because as he was leaving he crashed into the gate.”

“To know that an individual, a human being, just left another person like that with no remorse… it’s a sad world that we live in,” Sanchez said.

The family has created a GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses and to keep Rodriguez’s home while she recovers.

“She had her own place, so we want to keep that for her so when she comes out she won’t have to worry about not having a home or how she will be able to pay anything,” Cardenas said.
