Home invasion suspect caught in Kentucky after removing GPS ankle monitor, officials say

Officials say a 25-year plea agreement was under consideration at the time of William Best’s flee. With this incident, the case is now being prepared for trial.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — A home invasion suspect has been captured after officials say he removed his GPS ankle monitor and was caught in Kentucky.

According to Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, multiple victims were tied up and held at gunpoint on the night of April 13, 2023.

Officials say armed suspects entered the East Bexar County residence, assaulted a 19-year-old man, and forced him to open several safes that had firearms.

A woman who arrived during the robbery was also detained, and a juvenile was later restrained. All three victims were allegedly threatened and bound with zip ties and phone charging cables.

The suspects fled the scene in a white truck.

William Best was later identified as one of the suspects.

While out on bond in May 2025, Best was scheduled to appear in court for his aggravated assault charge. However, officials say Best “removed his GPS ankle monitor and informed his attorney he would not appear.”

A warrant was then issued and with the help of the U.S. Marshals, Best was found in Kentucky and arrested on June 10, 2025. He was taken back to Bexar County on June 22.

Officials say a 25-year plea agreement was under consideration at the time of Best’s flee. With this incident, the case is now being prepared for trial.
