Home Run Dugout looks into San Antonio for possible new location

Home Run Dugout is looking at San Antonio for a potential new location thanks to some Hall of Fame connections, according to a San Antonio Business Journal report.

“We are already looking in San Antonio,” said Home Run Dugout co-founder Tyler Bambrick to the Business Journal.

Home Run Dugout is a Topgolf-style food and entertainment facility, but for baseball instead of golf. What started as a passion project from friends Bambrick and Nick Hermandorfer in Bambrick’s “Mamaw’s garage” in San Marcos eventually made its way to Dell Diamond Stadium in Round Rock in 2019.

This was where the pair gained National Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan and Ryan Sanders Baseball as investors. The latter is the ownership group of the Round Rock Express Triple-A baseball team, which plays at Dell Diamond. Ryan Sanders Baseball is also part of the group that purchased the San Antonio Missions in 2022, which, the Business Journal says, could help lead Home Run Dugout to the Alamo City.

The first standalone Home Run Dugout opened in Katy in March. The Katy location has 12 simulated batting bays where hitters will take swings at baseballs from the ground-up pitching system. Batters can see a home run’s exit velocity, distance, and location in all MLB stadiums, according to the report.

The Katy spot has a full service restaurant that includes shareable appetizers, burgers, chicken and fish tacos, ribeye sandwiches, salads flat breads, and four different HRD signature hot dogs, according to the Home Run Dugout menu.

The location also features two full service bars. A large outdoor patio, a backyard mini-field and live music. The Katy location is at 1220 Grand West Blvd., Katy, TX 77449.
