Homeowner confesses to shooting, trying to sink alligator in East Texas lake

They confessed to killing an alligator and attempting to sink it in Lake Bob Sandlin, officials say.

CAMP COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas homeowner admitted to killing and trying to sink an alligator to hide the crime at Lake Bob Sandlin.

Texas Game Wardens recently found a dead alligator floating in Lake Bob Sandlin. When they arrived, they found the gator was shot and tied to a large architectural stone with a ski rope, according to a social media post from the Game Wardens.

Through an investigation, the Game Wardens found a house with stone matching the one used to try to sink the alligator. They interviewed the homeowner, who admitted to shooting the alligator with a .308 rifle and trying to sink the animal to cover up what happened.

Game Wardens issued citations and civil restitution was filed.
