SAN ANTONIO — A homeowner was shot in the back after an exchange of gunfire between the man and some car thieves on the far west side Monday morning, police said,
The shooting was reported just after 9:15 a.m. in the 2100 block of Farmsville Drive, in a neighborhood off of South Ellison Drive.
Police say the homeowner came out of his house to try to prevent some car thieves from stealing a neighbor’s car. The car thieves pulled out a gun and started firing. Police say the homeowner and thieves exchanged gunfire and the homeowner was shot in the back.
He was taken to the hospital in stable, but life-threatening condition.
Police say there were at least two suspects involved in the shooting, with possibly more who were waiting in a getaway vehicle. No arrests have been made yet.
