SAN ANTONIO — In front of a sold-out Spurs crowd, a military veteran from Military City, USA had the night of his life.
Army veteran Evan Garr brought the crowd to its feet after winning the Victory Capital Half Court Hero Challenge, sinking a layup, a 3-pointer, and a half-court shot in under 45 seconds — earning a $10,000 prize in the process.
Garr, a San Antonio-area native and retired Army Airborne Infantryman, was home for the holidays when he took his shot in front of a sold-out crowd. He now works as a traveling physical therapist and currently lives in Colorado, but Spurs fans inside the arena made it clear: this was his night.
“This is what the promotion is all about,” said David C. Brown, chairman and CEO of Victory Capital. “Evan gave us all a memory we won’t soon forget.”
